Time: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 90-minute lunch break from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Day 1: What is public leadership?

Day 2: One nation, 50 states, and 90,000 local governments. What kinds of services do local governments deliver? Field trip: Oxford City Council meeting at 7:30pm.

Day 3: All politics is local; and all security is local – public safety at the nexus of homeland security.

Day 4: A day in court and the local judicial system…Field trip: Butler County Area Court 1*

Day 5: Using public resources efficiently and effectively.

Day 6: Public services at their most basic level…City of Oxford walking tour*

Day 7: E-government and state and local politics.

Day 8: Pulling it all together…public leadership simulation

*Field trips and guest speakers are scheduled based upon the availability of the host agency. In the event of a schedule conflict, field trips may be switched to another day. All field trips are within walking distance of McGuffey Hall, so no transportation is needed. All field trips will begin in our classroom (McGuffey Hall 122), and we will walk to and from each location as a group.
